About this event
- Topic: Begin with a simple wooden disk. Using multiple offsets, create a "rose" with three to six sets of petals using intersecting cuts. Enhance the surfaces with beading. Create a "petal edge" by cutting away the outer circular edges. Add interwoven rings in the central medallion using additional offsets.
- Skill Level: Intermediate
- Project: Decorative rose or wreath
- Handout: Making a Rose by Bob Henrickson
- Pre-requisite: Complete comfort turning platters with tenons, beads and coves - and keeping them consistent. Good tool control is expected. Read and be familiar with the AAW Lathe Safety Guidelines and the Glossary of Woodturning Terms, available on the OVWG website in the document library or by clicking the following links: AAW Lathe Safety Guidelines and Woodturning Glossary
