Professional Instructors
The Ohio Valley Woodturner Guild’s (OVWG) Learning Center is located at the Kennedy Heights Cultural Campus, 6620 Montgomery Rd Kennedy Heights, Ohio. Our Learning Center allows us to offer a variety of classes. These currently include one, two, and three day classes as well as turn and learn mini classes. These classes provide you with the opportunity to learn from some of the world’s best turners. These classes are similar to what one might take at a school such as Marc Adams, Arrowmont, or John C. Campbell.
See the Event Calendar for the list of classes currently scheduled. Details of what will be covered in those classes will be added to the website under the Event Calendar date as the information becomes available. If you are interested in taking a class you may reserve your spot by registering on line and pay with your credit card. If you do not want to register on line, contact the current VP of Programs to pay by check.
Reservations are not complete until payment has been received.
Classes typically run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and are usually limited to 8 participants.
The Learning Center is fully equipped with lathes, band saw, and other equipment normally used in a woodturning shop.
In addition to the registration fee, there may be a materials fee. You will be provided with a list of tools and materials you will need in class before the class is conducted. If you have your own tools and personal safety equipment you should bring them. OVWG has a limited selection of basic tools that you may use. If special tools are required for a specific project you will be notified in advance so you will have time to purchase or borrow the items needed. In some cases the professional demonstrator may have the needed tools for sale or have extras for you to use.
Member to Member Classes
We have a large number of members in the OVWG that offer to conduct classes in the Learning Center. This gives you, as a member of the OVWG, the opportunity to learn from highly skilled, experienced turners that are fellow members. You will find these classes listed on the Event Calendar and can register by clinking on the date of the event.
