Subject: Silent Auction for 1221 Lathes

Silent Auction During Member
Appreciation Luncheon

The OVWG recently purchased 2 new Jet 1221 lathes to replace those that were installed when the Learning Center was opened 10 years ago.  In addition to these purchases donors have provided money to buy 6 additional lathes thus making it possible for us to replace all 8 of the original Jet 1221 lathes.

Two of the lathes being replaced will be available for purchase through a silent auction during the luncheon on December 6.  If you are looking for a first lathe to get you started you may want to consider buying on of these.  It could also be useful as second lathe to be used for small jobs.  You should understand that these lathes are being sold as is.  They have been used rather heavily as our primary student lathes during the past ten years and will likely need to have some repairs for you to get good service.  Each will come with a tool rest, a face plate., and a wrench.  A chuck is not included.

You will be able to examine the lathes during the luncheon.  If you are interested in making a purchase you will need to have cash or a check. Let me know if you have questions.  If you are interested but haven't registered for the luncheon this is another reason to do so. Additional lathes will be available for auction at a later date - possibly during the January demonstration meeting or later.
