About this event

The ghost (or shadow) vessel is an illusion of one vessel inside another. As the vessel is rotated, the fins reveal the inner vessel with multiple perspectives. The inner vessel is cored with a drill to allow it to act as a vase for dry flowers. While the techniques used are from spindle turning, an intermediate skill level is recommended.  You should be very comfortable rounding rough wood, creating a tenon, turning curves with a gouge, and using a parting tool. During the class, we'll address layout including the Golden Ratio, vessel proportions, and recommended turning techniques. You'll leave with your own vessel ready for finishing. Wood requirement: Maple (ideally hard) or Cherry.  7" long leaves enough length for a tenon and 4" diameter is the target width for the final project. It'll be best if that's dried stock.
