Just a quick note to make OVWG members aware of new learning opportunity this coming
September 30th.
(Wood) Pumpkin Turning
Begin by turning a cylinder, then shaping that to a rough sphere. Mount the sphere between centers using cup chucks, cut a rounded groove around the sphere, and sand. Remove, rotate sphere slightly, remount, and repeat cut. Three or four such cuts will yield your pumpkin. An introduction to one type of multiaxis turning.
Tools needed: roughing gouge, spindle or bowl gouge (3/8" or ½").
