About this event
- Topic: Learn to create segmented forms. This 2 part, hands-on class walks through the steps necessary to prepare your segments, glue them into rings and stack to create the rough form. This is part 1 of the 2 parts. The project is progressive (i.e., what you create in part 1 will be refined in part 2) so please be prepared to register for both parts of the class. At the end of the second session, you'll have rough blank you can turn at home.
- Specific content: Plan your segments, methods for cutting your segments, cut your segments and create your rings.
- Tools: Needed tools will include a table saw with sled, sanders and band clamps (all tools will be provided in the class).
- Skill Level: Intermediate skills, must have comfort a table saw and sander. Instructors will be available to guide and assist you, but you should be comfortable around these power tools.
- Project: Complete a rough blank for a segmented vessel.
- Materials: All materials will be provided in the class. Specialty tools will be made available by the instructors.
- Pre-requisite: Introduction to Woodturning and the OVWG Learning Center.
