Subject: Donations for Live Auction @ OVWG Symposium
From: Kathy O’Connell

Would you like to be "collected"?  That's what it means when someone buys a piece of your work for their collection.

Most of us don't get to go into really significant collections.  Although our fellow member, Ray Feltz, who recently passed away, does have a piece at the Smithsonian!  I like to collect beautiful things made by our very talented members, and hope that you would like to do so as well.

The Live Auction at our upcoming Turning 2023 Symposium is your chance to be "collected" and to also add to your own special collection.

How can this happen?

Please consider donating a piece of your work to be put up for bidding in our auction that occurs Saturday evening at the Symposium. Simply go to work making something new, or pull something off your shelf that you think others might like to own.

What's been donated in the past?  Bowls, platters, pepper mills, ornaments, jewelry boxes, other boxes, and more. Below are examples showing the range of items donated in the past: a platter done by Mike Pankion and a jewelry box donated by Arn Ward.

The proceeds from the auction mean a lot to the OVWG. It helps to defray the cost of the event and contribute to our ability to operate and maintain our Learning Center. The proceeds from past events enabled us to weather the pandemic as well as we did.

Please let me know if you will be contributing a piece of your work and if you want to arrange to give it to me or if you will be bringing it to the event.  BTW, you can still support the OVWG by donating something, even if you are not coming to the Symposium.

Many thanks!
