Hello Woodturners,

Here is an opportunity for OVWG members to participate in the promotion of wood turning on two levels. You can can have your own booth to sell your own creations or you can help man the OVWG station in demonstrating woodturning and promoting the Club. Jerry Warner Jerry Warner <jw.warner455@gmail.com> is the contact person if you want to be part of the club demo station. If you want to have your own booth you will need to go to the website Gathering of the Guilds and fill out the application form to request a space. This is time sensitive and needs to be submitted before February 15, 2023. This a juried event so you will need 3 photos of your work if you are requesting a booth.

This is a new and unique opportunity to represent the OVWG to greater Cincinnati. I highly encourage you to consider your participation in this event is some capacity.

Applications are now available for the Makers Village at the Gathering of the Guilds hosted by the Weavers Guild of Greater Cincinnati on Sept. 9, 2023. The application is available on our website: https://www.gotgcincy.org/artists.

The Makers Village will feature exceptional work by Cincinnati area artisans and will be juried by Cynthia Amneus, chief curator at the Cincinnati Art Museum. GOTG supports and celebrates contemporary craft and the organizations and individuals who create and educate through craft in our region.

The Weavers Guild of Greater Cincinnati will host GOTG at our Guild House and grounds located at 4870 Gray Road with the participation of eight local guilds: Ohio Valley Enameling Guild, Cincinnati Blacksmiths Guild, Cincinnati Book Arts Society, Ohio Valley Lapidary and Faceting Society, Ohio Valley Basketweavers’ Guild, Contemporary Quilt and Fiber Artists, Tiger Lily Press, and Ohio Valley Woodturners Guild.

GOTG will include a large tent where local guilds will demonstrate their craft and inform the public about the educational opportunities they offer. The Makers Village will feature juried artisans selling high-quality contemporary craft. The event will have a festival vibe with food trucks and live demonstrations including glassblowing, blacksmithing, weaving, spinning, and woodturning. An extensive marketing campaign will support this event.

If you have any questions, please contact Debbie Cannatella, the event chair (debbie.cannatella@gmail.com) or Melissa Lusk, president of the Weavers Guild (president@weaversguildcincinnati.org). We hope you will join us; we believe this event will impact the skilled craft community in our region in a profound way.

Best Regards,
