UPCOMING EVENTS
It is that time of the year when things start to get even busier than usual and the OVWG is no exception to that. In addition to the normal activities at the Learning Center and our meetings, we have a couple of events when allows us to support and interact with the local community. Below is information on two events which are upcoming and need our support.
Oxford Empty Bowls Auction - The auction helps support the local food banks and pantries which are in desperate need of resources. The demand for their services has exploded and the auction is a great fund raising opportunity for them to reach out to the community. The OVWG has supported this activity for several years now and once again we have the opportunity to provide items for the auction. The title suggests bowls but other turned or handmade items can be donated to the auction. A member of the organization will pick up the donated items from me on November 11, 2022 so I need to get them by November 10, 2022. You can leave them at the Learning Center or contact me and I will arrange to pick up the items. Please mark them for the Empty Bowls and identify the maker and type of material if possible.
Oxford Community Arts Center Exhibition - The exhibition is an opportunity for the OVWG to demonstrate to the community the types of arts and crafts that our members produce and to promote the craft of woodturning. Items put in the exhibition can be for show only or can be marked for sale. The event opens on December 9, 2022 with an Open House and Reception and will run through February 4, 2023. If you would like to support this exhibition by the OVWG please let me know by 8:00 pm, Friday, November 4, 2022. I do NOT need the items until toward the end of November but I do need pictures of the pieces. Members can submit up to five (5) items for consideration. The exact number selected will depend on the number submitted but anyone who submits will be included in the exhibition. Please include the type of material the item(s) are made from and a brief description of any embellishments.
Your help in supporting these upcoming events is greatly appreciated and demonstrates to the community what the OVWG is all about.
