OHIO VALLEY WOODTURNERS GUILD
I am writing to inform you that Larry Lockwood has resigned from the position of Treasurer of the OVWG. He was elected during the spring 2020 election, but has determined, due to personal reasons, that he will not be able to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. As chair of the Nomination Committee, I want to thank Larry for considering the job and wish him and his family well.
With Larry's resignation we are now looking for someone to assume the responsibilities of Treasurer. As most of you know, this important position has been held by Kurt Foglesong for the past several years (six I think). While he has done a great job of overseeing the funds of the Guild, he did not take this on as a life-time responsibility and has no interest in continuing. During his tenure he has organized the books in such a way as to make it very easy to maintain using Quicken. His comment to me was that if one can balance a checkbook she or he should have little difficulty in overseeing the finances of the Guild. Kurt is more than willing to talk to anyone about the details of the job.
This is a very important position on the Board of Directors of the Guild. Its occupant is in a position where he or she can make substantial contributions to the future direction of the organization. If you have the time and the skills I encourage you to consider it further. If you are one who has enjoyed the benefits of membership in the OVWG (pre-COVID-19) this is an opportunity for you to give something back. We are all volunteers and being in this position will enable you to make a contribution to the future of the OVWG in a post-COVID world.
