The Zeller picnic was enjoyed by all. Lots of good food, fellowship, contest ribbons and exchanging of treasured tools. Now we are in a heatwave. There are a number of Open Shops this month, segmenting classes, skill building classes and a chance to compare hollowing systems. There is bound to be something happening at the Learning Center that you can't pass up. All in airconditioned comfort. Go to the calendar and pick a few events that fit your fancy.
September is Coming!
It won't be long and we begin our year of regular third Saturday meetings. This year we kick-off with Turn Fest.Turn Fest 2023 - 9/16/2023 Not our regular big room demo but four simultaneous demonstrations happening at once. There will be two rotations of 90 minutes each a total of 8 different projects to get your creative juices flowing. We have a great lineup of demonstrators so be sure to mark you calendar for September 16th. For instance learn how to make these cute bottle stoppers.
In addition OVWG will be promoting the guild and demonstrating at two other events on the second and fourth Saturdays in September.
The first is a brand new event put on by the Weavers Guild called the Gathering of the Guilds. Gathering of the Guilds - 9/9/2023 This is the first Saturday of September. There will 10 guilds under a big tent demoing and a large number of individual booths with various items for sale. OVWG will have two lathes there making chips. Tom Dresch and Dave Kratzer will be there all day. We would welcome some help demonstrating. Come for a hour or come all day. Come early or come late to help setup and/or tear down. Many hands lighten the load. This will be a great family event. Let the family browse while you turn. Hope to see you there.
The other demo event for OVWG is the Milford Art Affaire.Milford Art Affaire - 9/23/2023 OVWG has participated in this art fair many times. We will have one lathe in a 10' x 10' booth. Tom and Dave will be at this one all day too. This is another good family affaire. Again we would welcome turners to help for an hour or all day.
