Meetings and Membership
We welcome as members anyone with an interest in learning about and doing woodturning; collecting turned items from talented local, national and international woodturners; or even just enjoying watching talented demonstrators show their skills.
Memberships run on the calendar year, but you can join any time. You can join the club by clicking Member Signup / Information Existing members can renew their annual membership starting 60 days prior to the January 1 expiration date. This is done from their Profile page or by clicking the link that appears 60 days prior to expiration date. We take payments on line, or you can join when you attend one of our meetings. Annual dues are $25, and you get a $5 discount if you also join the American Association of Woodturners. Go to www.woodturner.org to check out their offerings and membership options.
There are many benefits of becoming a member of the OVWG. You will save $5.00 at each meeting and have access to the Membership Directory on the web site as well as having pride in supporting the many activities and programs sponsored by OVWG. Members also have the chance to become an "approved demonstrator" who participate in giving demonstrations of woodturning at a variety of local events and venues.
Many of our members also sell their work at these events. You will eligible to apply for one of our annual woodturning scholarships which can be used to take lessons in woodturning at one of a number of craft schools located around the country. Members also have on-going access to our cadre of skilled Mentors who offer help and advice to those getting started in woodturning or trying to develop or improve a particular skill. They will visit your shop or welcome you to theirs. We encourage you to join today.
Our meetings are generally held the third Saturday of the month (September through June) from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Registration and set up starts at 8:00am. Meeting cost (includes lunch) is $10 for members and $15 for nonmembers when there is a professional demonstrator and $5 for members and $10 for nonmembers for demonstrations done by of our own talented "home grown" members.
